A couple favorites.
West Virginia was an amazing trip. Not only did I feel like actual ministry was happening, but God also healed my heart in so many ways. I experienced a bunch of jr. highers who were completely sold out for God. I gained peace with old friends. I saw genuine joy, and a real Joy Lippard c: God gave me a strength that I would not have had if I had relied on myself. I got a weekend away from the tirade and obnoxiousness of home. I know that serving God needs to be my first and foremost priority--no matter what I do. And He is SO worth it.
These jr. highers...man. I know we older students think we're so high and mighty--we're cool, we dress cool, we act cool, we look cool. But we could take a serious lesson from these kids. Yes, they were the hand-picked ones. But still. How often do we forget that they have HUGE hearts? Christ said that we should become LIKE them, not just dismiss them as though they know nothing. They are innocent, but because of that they know nothing but Christ. We're not "cool". Just corrupted. That's an awful shame to me.
And something else that's cool--the past? It's "all gravy." Especially with a God who forgets as soon as we give it up. So let's take a lesson from Him, too.
